The Bachelor of Engineering Honours Degree in Mechatronics Engineering is a five year full-time programme. Mechatronics is the synergistic combination of precision mechanical engineering, electronic control and systems thinking in the design of products and manufacturing processes. The programme aims at producing graduates with the ability to design systems, devices and products aimed at achieving an optimal balance between basic mechanical structure and its overall control. Emphasis is placed on the design and application of Mechatronic systems across disciplines such as Robotics, Control and Automation. The programme also links Mechatronics with entrepreneurship. The programme has applications in industries such as Automotive, Defence, Medical, Mining and Communication.
